Heading to StroudFest this Saturday, Sept. 5? Skip the downtown parking hunt and ride the Pocono Pony shuttle for free. Park smart at Stroudsburg High School and hop on our free shuttle straight to the action between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Get dropped off right in the heart of downtown to explore local vendors, live music across multiple stages, and endless festival food. For festival details check out the Sherman Theater website. Plus, stop by the Pocono Pony vendor table to say, "Hi!", grab some swag, and chat with us about public transit in Monroe County.

Bring your own boat or bike and enjoy the scenic Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area without staging additional relief vehicles. Service operates only on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.

Proposed Shared Ride Fare Increase

Monroe County Transit Authority is seeking public input on proposed fare adjustments for its Shared Ride service. A public meeting of the MCTA Board of Directors regarding the proposed increase will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at MCTA’s headquarters, 134 MCTA Drive, Swiftwater.

If approved, the updated fare structure would take effect on Oct. 1, 2026.

Riders can now use their own bank-issued credit or debit card (or Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) or Cash App to board and pay fares. By paying with a bank card, passengers will not be charged more than a daily, 7-day, or 30-day cap. Seniors over 65 will still be free. Kindergarten through 12th grade students ride free with current valid school ID.

When you pay with the same bank card, a fare cap keeps you within budget and you only pay up to the cap, regardless of the number of trips you take.

Seniors over the age of 65, children under 44 inches, and students kindergarten through 12th grade presenting a valid student ID, ride free.
