About the Persons with Disabilities Program
The Rural Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Program is a transportation service that reduces the fare for eligible persons with disabilities lending affordable and accessible transportation. Persons with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64 may travel anywhere in Monroe County with this program. If you live or travel within 3/4 of a mile from any MCTA fixed route, you will be required to use our ADA Fixed Route Program.
The program can be used for various purposes such as medical appointments, shopping and employment to name a few. Some exclusions do apply, where PennDOT has determined that other transportation funding exists.
Same Day service may be requested, but not guaranteed. Trips outside of hours of service may be provided based on medical or work related trip purposes and seat availability.

Fare Structure
Funding for this program is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Bureau of Public Transit. This program significantly reduces the cost of transportation for the disablied living in rural areas through out Monroe County.
Subsidized Fares for persons registered with the Persons with Disabilities Shared Ride Program can be found to the left of this section.
Paying the Fare on the Bus
When traveling on the Persons with Disabilities Shared Ride Program, the fare for each trip is due at the time of boarding. Please have the exact fare available for the bus driver, as they do not make change. Do not provide the bus driver the fare for all the trips you plan on taking for the day, as you may have another driver and bus for your return trip.
