Important Information!

Starting January 1, 2025, MCTA is proposing to raise the base fare for the fixed route system. The last fare increase was July 2014. Along with the fare increase, MCTA will also be rolling out a new way to pay for fares. This system will permit riders to use their bank cards (including, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) and the Cash App to pay for the fare. Cash fares will still be accepted. The MoGo Cards and system will be retired.

MCTA New Fare Payment System - Effective January 1, 2025

Now Accepting Credit Cards!

MCTA is moving to a convenient and flexible credit card fare payment system. Here's what this means for you:

  • Pay with Ease: Use your existing bank card, smartphone, or smartwatch to pay for your fare. Simply tap your card (or device with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Cash App) on the new validators (PADs) located on the buses.
  • Keep Track of YOUR Travel: MCTA does not have access to your account - only you do with your bank card / Cash App number. When the system goes live, MCTA will post a link on this website where you can monitor your trips, when you use your bank card.
  • Fare Capping: Enjoy automatic fare capping! Once you reach the daily, weekly, or monthly fare cap, ride for free for the remainder of the period.
  • Seamless Transfers: Transfers between buses are automatically applied within the system. Just tap the same card or device on your next bus, as long as you are transferring to the next route within three hours of your first tap.
  • No Credit Card Option: Download and use the Cash App on your smartphone. You can go to any Dollar General Store (as well as other retail outlets) and have the cashier add your cash to the app. Once you have funds on Cash App, board the bus, tap your device. No credit card required. Please note, there is a $1 transaction fee that the Cash App takes at the time of cash loading.
